After completing his specialist training with Singapore General Hospital, he practiced there before embarking on
a 1-year clinical fellowship (under the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Award) to Charité –
Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany, one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe.
There, he trained under the tutelage of Prof Markus Scheibel, in the field of shoulder surgery (open and
arthroscopic), Prof Carsten Perka in lower limb arthroplasty and Dr Tobias Jung in knee arthroscopy. This was
followed by an AO Trauma Fellowship with Prof Ralph Hertel in Bern, Switzerland, managing shoulder injuries and
He returned to Singapore in 2016 to helm the Sports Service in Sengkang General Hospital. His practice largely
revolves around treating shoulder and knee conditions. This encompasses arthroscopic (key-hole) procedures,
ligament reconstruction/repair, joint reconstruction/replacement as well as fracture fixation.
He is compassionate and enjoys a strong rapport with his patients as evident by service quality awards he
received during his stint in the public institutions such as “Service with a Heart Award, Singapore General
Hospital” in 2014, "You Sparkle! Silver Award, Sengkang General Hospital” in 2017 etc.
He has chaired or was an invited faculty for local and regional courses such as the AO Trauma Courses
(Basic/Advanced/ORP), Mitek Intermediate and Advanced Shoulder Arthroscopy courses, KTPH Cadaveric Shoulder
He has presented at international orthopaedic conferences and has published in several peer-reviewed orthopaedic
journals. He is also a reviewer for both local and international journals and was recognised for his efforts by
being awarded the “Reviewing with Distinction Award” by Singapore Medical Journal for 3 consecutive years from
2015 to 2017.
He is a strong advocate for undergraduate and post graduate medical education. He was heavily involved in
medical student teaching as well as being an examiner for the final MBBS exam. He was a Clinical Physician
Faculty Member for SingHealth Orthopaedic Surgery Residency as well as a clinical lecturer with Yong Loo Lin
School of Medicine, NUS.
